Beyond Basics
Beyond Basics is our DOGSmart term for a wide variety of advanced training programs. Each program is unique and offers you and your dog a chance to learn something new and fun. All dogs must be 6 months or older. Please see below for a description of each program.
Programs are 6 weeks long, one hour per class.
One week notice prior to commencement is required for cancellations or refunds.
Please note - we are unable to offer "make-up" classes for any of these specialty programs.
Canine Good Neighbour - Canadian Kennel Club Program for Pure Bred and Mixed Breed Dogs.
This program is to identify and reward responsible, caring owners and their canine partners throughout Canada. Canine Good Neighbours can be counted on to present good manners at home, in public places and in the presence of other dogs. The test is non-competitive and allows dog and handler to demonstrate confidence and control in 12 steps. This program does not require a DOGSmart Beginner Program but it is recommended.

Tricks and GamesBe the 'life of the party' and improve performance of all basic commands in a creative and rewarding way. In this program you will learn how to use a clicker to enhance training. For the greatest opportunity for your dog's success, the first class will be orentation and practice with clicker training for owners only. Dogs join the fun on the second week of class.

Beyond BeginnerThis is a great program for any dog that has not taken classes in a while. Focus of this program is on three important skills:
- Walking on a loose leash
- Come When Called
- Stay

Freestyle Fun
A Tricks and Games enhanced program that includes agility games - relay games - freestyle games - while improving your handling skills and having fun with your dog. Come When Called
Improve your dog's ability to come when called. Let us help you create positive results. This is an outdoor class and is offered only from spring to fall.

Out And About Improve your handling skills and your dog's attention in many different locations. Each week in a new location. This is an outdoor class and is offered only from spring to fall. This program is 5 sessions.

Train and PlayChoose the class that fits your dogs size. In this program your dog will have the opportunity to learn and practice good play behaviours around other dogs and their owners. Play behaviours have important learning and health benefits that help dogs become well-adjusted members of both their canine and human families. Through play, your dog learns dog-to-dog social graces and is mentally and physically stimulated. Includes play time for dogs.

Toys Train and Play - Dogs less than 20 pounds

Train and Play - Dogs 20 to 50 pounds

Train and Play - Dogs more than 50 pounds

Intermediate Program - Dogs 12 months and older
This is a great program that let's you build on your dog's basic skills through the addition of a variety of distractions and challenges. This program is for those who are looking to challenge themselves, and their dog, by taking that next step to the next level of their dog's training ability.
