Whether you have short haired, long haired, smooth, curly or wiry coated dog there are many maintenance issues you need to be able to perform on your dog. For example, with long haired dogs, there is alot more to clean and dematt. Nails are an often a stressful issue dogs and handler if they are left too long or if the quick has been cut. Matts in the pads of the feet can cause walking problems. Ears need to be examined, cleaned and cared for. Teeth need to be brushed. And looking under the tail is important. Occasionally people are asked to get a urine sample from their dog, by the veterinarian so exposure to the cup is required. If all of these handling exercises have been performed on the dog before it is necessary, it goes a long way to taking care of the dog in good times and in bad.
This is a "how to " class. You and your dog will work on desensitizing, handling and if necessary what and when to use a restraint or a second helper.
